Classically styled French Windows & Doors
One of the features of French Windows is that they can be used to great effect both as internal and external doors. Many homeowners are using French Windows & Doors to separate areas within the house such as living & dining rooms.
With options to open inwards or outwards it means that they are very versatile and when fitted opening outwards they release more internal space – useful where rooms are smaller.
The double window / door, centre lock configuration, especially for wooden French Patio doors made older versions more vulnerable to forced entry & became a favourite of burglars. Modern multi-point locking systems for uPVC French Windows have now made this weakness a thing of the past.
As with other styles, modern version of this design benefit from double or triple glazed window panes, side panels for larger openings and reinforced frames. Built in weather seals also ensure you keep nasty weather outside.
In terms of the installation WER, there are products in the market that exceed ‘A’ ratings, although you would expect to pay a little more than average prices for these ‘high performance windows’. However, if you are looking to be as energy efficient as possible, then why not opt for Low emissivity glass with gas filled double or triple glazed window units.
As with other uPVC based replacement windows, you can find them in coloured versions with either smooth or wood-grain finishes.
